Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to drinking water, per reports from city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a distinct Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and applying sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles struck the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

National leaders told journalists that Russia was deliberately attempting to demolish the national power system, with assaults already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
