I'll overwhelm 'credible fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

Briton Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" his opponent as the pair confronted each other to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.

Former twice unified title holder Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I'm going to injure his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I'm going to seriously aim to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Civil Exchange

Despite those words, a calm Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - normally known for his theatrics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul rather attacked ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou declined a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at British rival Fury - and refused a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of declaring he will hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he stated.

Jake Paul's History

Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mostly boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Nevertheless, the novice remains one of boxing's greatest financial successes, frequently receiving massive financial rewards.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28-year-old predicted a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and stated he would stop the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly under discussion for two years from now.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul said.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul met for the customary confrontation, with their size difference clearly visible, it drove home just how unlikely this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is truly going ahead.
