19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from March of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional victory, took control to create a final set.

He saved four early-game break points in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
